Welcome to 2017! Sonrise Church
Hi! Welcome to 2017. Last year was an AMAZING year for the me and the rest of the Delgado clan. I began serving as Lead Pastor in February, bought a house, and adopted an entire family we call Sonrise Church. Jami, the kids and I have really found a home with you all and we praise God for you.
This year is moving to a great start. I got the bags ordered for our Grocery Bag Day. If you haven’t heard about that yet, grocery bag day is coming up on the 27th and 28th. We are going to get in teams of 4 or 5 and hand out grocery bags at grocery stores around East Palmdale. I’ll be contacting some of you next week to be team leaders and assign you teams and give more instructions.
Several people have asked if they can get some of our super snazzy custom Sonrise Church reusable grocery bags. So, I ordered extra just for you! But, regrettably, we can’t give them out to the church for free. Instead, I’m going to ask that you support the outreach event by purchasing your bags for $2.50 each. We will have them available after church as soon as they come in the mail.
This Sunday we are kicking off a new preaching series. It’s going to be 3 weeks and it’s called, ‘They Say…’ Here’s the premise: They say, ‘Christians are hypocrites.’ They say, ‘Christians are intolerant.’ They say, ‘Christians are unloving.’ Are these things true?
This January, join us at Sonrise Church to honestly explore a handful of things people think about Christians alongside the biblical advice to the church and the way the church has responded.
I’m not sure if you know this, but we can use Facebook and other Social Media outlets to reach out to people in our city. I shared a link to our website on our Facebook Page. Please go there and engage that link. Here’s what happens.
LIKE: When lots of Sonrise people like a post, Facebook magically locates mutual acquaintances and shows them our page in their feed. The more people that like it, the more people that will see it.
SHARE: Sharing takes it another level. Friends of friends see shared posts. So the more Sonrise people that share a Facebook post, the more people that will see it who don’t attend Sonrise.
COMMENT: Commenting on the post creates a forum for interaction where people who attend or don’t attend Sonrise can go to ask questions, give their opinions, and engage the content before even coming to our service. This is a great way to encourage people to attend and hear the Gospel.
I want to be really frank about this. The reason to use Facebook in these ways is so that we can reach people with the Gospel, the good news that Jesus has really come, really died, really rose from the dead to the right hand of God the Father, and really has offered freedom from sin and death freely to all who will believe.
Please join us in that mission by being active on our Facebook Page.
We love you all and are praying for you, that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
